Lately Avery has been very interested in putting letters together and forming words. I think she's doing remarkably well for a 2 1/2 year old. She loves the Leap Frog videos "Letter Factory" and "Talking Words Factory", which has helped her realize that letters make a sound and come together to create words. She can spell her name, as well as words like "cat," "dog," "mom," "dad" and "stop." She also likes to point out letters and ask me what word they make. Imagine my surprise when I heard her say, "Mama, what does T-O-B-A-C-C-O spell?" Thanks a lot, Mr. Tobacco on the corner where we turn to go home. Never thought I'd have to explain the dangers of smoking to a two-year-old.Sunday, September 28, 2008

Man, the things kids pick up on--what a smarty-pants! It was such fun catching up with you on your blog--thanks for the great pics--your family is adorable.
Thanks for being a blogger! It's been great keeping up with your family this way. Way to go with that awesome spelling Avery! And Boo To Mr. Tobacco!
that is so funny! She is so smart! I can't remember what hymn it was but one time she sang all 4 verses to me:) (and this was like 6 months ago)
We should go t.p. Mr. Tobacco's front yard. Has mom ever told you the story of Peej and the 'analogic beavers'? A.'s little glimpse into the world of reading reminds me of that very story. I think those two were about the same age too. But I can't be sure-being that I was only 1 year old.
Great job Avery. Boo to Mr. T-O-B-A-C-C-O.
